Two suspects arrested following assault

North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP have arrested two people following an assault on Tuesday.

On February 11, 2025, at 5:29 p.m., North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP responded to the report of an assault in progress at a convenience store located in the 500-block of Canada Avenue. One person was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

It was reported that two people entered the store, grabbed handfuls of merchandise and were confronted when they exited without paying. The person who confronted the suspects was assaulted and the suspects fled the area.

Through the investigation two suspects were identified and arrested at 7:30 a.m. on February 12. Both individuals remain in custody.

This swift identification and arrest of the suspects was a result of excellent police work by Frontline officers and the Community Safety Unit. says S/Sgt. Steve Perret of the North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP.

If you witness a crime in progress, call 911, intervening is not recommended as it could put you at risk.
