Proactive Enforcement Unit seize guns

Kelowna

2025-06-30 15:10 PDT

As part of an ongoing effort to enhance public safety, the Kelowna RCMP Proactive Enforcement Unit has seized a loaded handgun, multiple additional firearms, and a quantity of illicit drugs during a targeted enforcement operation.

The seizure was made as officers conducted proactive patrols and enforcement actions focused on addressing street-level crime, drug trafficking, and known violent offenders.

This is exactly the kind of result we want to see from strategic, intelligence-led policing, said Inspector Chris Goebel, Acting Officer in Charge of the Kelowna RCMP. Removing loaded firearms and dangerous drugs from our community is a critical step toward ensuring the safety of residents, families, and businesses. These enforcement efforts reflect our commitment to pursuing public safety and preventing violence before it occurs.

The Proactive Enforcement Unit continues to work closely with specialized units and community partners to target high-risk offenders and criminal networks.

Anyone with information about illegal activity is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or submit tips anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
