Police stop driver found impaired and breaching conditions

Squamish

2025-07-07 09:58 PDT

File # 2025-3944

A man faces charges after a traffic stop last month.

On June 26, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Squamish RCMP were conducting patrols. The officers initiated a traffic stop for roadside screening. As a result of their investigation, Kyle Luca, 30, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operation while over 80, and two counts of breach of a Release Order. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 9, 2025 in relation to these charges.

Impaired driving remains one of the top factors in fatal crashes, said Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of the BC RCMP. Frontline officers in Squamish and across BC will continue to target high-risk driving behaviours to keep our roads safe.

Impaired driving is an emergency. If you suspect another driver is impaired, or witness high-risk driving behaviours, report them by calling 9-1-1 from your hands-free device.
