Campbell River RCMP are investigating reported property damage on the Inland Island Highway. Police advise an individual or group have purposefully removed and damaged Red Dresses placed along the highway to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Two Spirited People.
Red Dresses
The most recent instance of mischief took place overnight on November 24th, 2024 South of Campbell River at the Inland Island Highway and Airport Main overpass. A number of the painted wooden dresses at that location were torn down and destroyed.

Multiple people have put their time, money, and heart into making these dresses, said Cst Maury Tyre. We are asking anyone who may have knowledge regarding those responsible for damaging the dresses to contact the police.
