Police Service Dog Halla retires from 9-1-1 calls and transitions to new role

West Shore RCMP Police Service Dog Halla is retiring from answering 9-1-1 calls for service at the West Shore RCMP.

Halla is a 7-year-old German Shepard police patrol dog that specialized in tracking people, searching for evidence and explosives detection. Halla has 5 years of service and has been to hundreds of calls for service in the West Shore and her prior post in Kamloops.

We want to thank Halla and Cpl. Lewis for their dedication and service to West Shore RCMP. Halla and Cpl. Lewis will be joining the RCMP National Reintegration Program where they will help RCMP officers across Canada reintegrate to active duty following a traumatic incident.

West Shore RCMP Police Dog Unit is comprised of 1 Corporal and 2 Constables, each with their own police dog. Halla’s replacement has not yet been named.
