File # BCHP Williams Lake 2023-8483
On the morning of October 28, 2023, an officer with BCHP-Williams Lake stopped a northbound vehicle for excessively speeding on Highway 97 near Lac La Hache, BC. As a result of the roadside investigation, the driver, identified as a local man in his 20’s who is known to police, was taken into custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded shotgun, two assault-style rifles, one prohibited ammunition magazine, and a moderate quantity of a drug suspected to be cocaine.
Sergeant Jason Nash, NCO In Charge of BCHP-Williams Lake, said The seizure of these drugs and unlawfully possessed firearms is an example of how BC Highway Patrol continues to make our highways and communities safer. No traffic stop is routine, and our officer used his training to bring this portion of the investigation to a safe conclusion.
