Weekend review: April 11 to April 13, 2025
The Terrace RCMP and BC Highway Patrol dealt with a high number of impaired investigations over this past weekend at a total of 13. Below are a few highlights from those impaired investigations.
On April 11, Terrace RCMP, while conducting routine patrols on Lakelse Avenue, observed a GMC Sierra pick up swerving over the center line. The pick up eventually turned into a local brew house. The officer conducted a traffic stop with the driver who was the lone occupant of the vehicle. The man admitted to having a couple drinks and the officer conducted an impaired investigation. Breath samples were obtained from the man which both resulted in a fail. The man was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and a notice of vehicle impound for 30 days. The man was released and carried on his way safely into the local brew house. (2025-2673)

On the morning of April 12, BC Highway Patrol was in the area of Thornhill Frontage Road and observed a vehicle with windows tinted contrary to the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to have a strong odor of liquor coming from within the vehicle. The officer conducted an impaired investigation and the driver provided breath samples which resulted in a warning. The man was issued a 3-day notice of driving prohibition, a 3-day notice of vehicle impound, and a notice and order for the tinted windows to be corrected. The driver and occupants were driven home by a family member. (2025-2694)
At approximately 10:30 pm, April 12, Terrace RCMP were patrolling in the area of Keith Avenue and observed a vehicle pull into the parking lot of a liquor store. The male driver went into the store and after exiting, urinated on the side of the building. Upon departing in his vehicle, the man made several traffic infractions causing the officer to suspect he may be impaired. A traffic stop was conducted and the officer conducted an impaired investigation. A breath sample was obtained from the man which resulted in a fail. The man was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded. The man made alternate arrangements for a ride home. (2025-2245)
Terrace RCMP received a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Kalum Lake Road. The incident occurred around 2:00 am on April 13. Police attended and identified the driver who was with the vehicle. She was falling down in the ditch, had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and was dropping things. The officer conducted an impaired investigation and breath samples that were obtained resulted in a fail. The woman was issued an immediate roadside driving prohibition and her vehicle was impounded. The officer provided courtesy transportation to the woman to an address in Thornhill. (2025-2707)
