Did you know you can report crime online?

Did you know that since 2019, Prince George RCMP has been accepting crime reports through our Online Crime Reporting tool?

In addition to providing a more convenient way for residents to make a report of a less urgent nature, this tool allows call-takers and frontline personnel to focus on higher priority calls, which will improve the overall safety and response times in the city. Emergencies and crimes against a person, however, should still go through the non-emergency line or through 9-1-1, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

In order to make a report online, the following conditions must be met:

• The person making the online report needs to use their real name and have a valid e-mail address;
• There are not any witnesses or suspects (this restriction does not apply to driving complaints);
• Follow-up by a police officer is not required;
• Reports cannot involve personal identification (passports, drivers licences, etc) or firearms;
• The user needs to agree to the terms and conditions of use.

Incidences that are reportable online are:

• Damage/mischief to property where the value is under $5000;
• Damage/mischief to a vehicle where the value is under $5000;
• Hit & run to property or an unoccupied vehicle;
• Theft of bicycle where the value is under $5000;
• Theft of other property where the value is under $5000;
• Theft from a vehicle where the value is under $5000;
• General driving behavior reports that are not in progress;
• Lost property including licence plates or validation decals on licence plates.
