Over the course of this month, members of the RCMP’s Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit (CC-CRU) conducted investigations into drug trafficking in the region that has resulted in two significant seizures.

On Sunday, August 6, 2023 CC-CRU members conducted a traffic stop outside 100 Mile House, BC with a vehicle associated to a person known to the police from the Lower Mainland with ties to the Cariboo and Bella Coola.

When police spoke with the occupants, an adult man and an adult woman, evidence of possible drug trafficking was noted and both occupants were arrested a search of the vehicle was conducted.

A search of the man and woman, as well as their vehicle revealed a large amount of cash, suspected methamphetamines and GHB and a loaded shotgun. Both suspects could face numerous charges

As a result of this investigation, a search warrant was executed on an associated residence in Hagensborg where members of the Bella Coola RCMP located further amounts of suspected methamphetamines and GHB as well as a stolen recreational vehicle.

On Friday, August 18 2023, CC-CRU, with the assistance of the Williams Lake RCMP, police executed a search warrant at a residence in city’s north end associated to an individual known to police.

During their search police located suspected fentanyl cocaine, methamphetamines, and other controlled substances as well as a significant amount of cash. Police located paraphernalia commonly seen in drug trafficking investigations. The resident of the home, an adult man, could face multiple drug related charges.

Seizures such as these are a major setback to traffickers in the region, and the Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit remains committed to fighting the influence of drugs, illegal guns and organized crime in our communities said Cst Semyon Bratina, Cariboo Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit.
