Police investigating assault with a weapon

At 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sidney RCMP received a report of a stabbing which occurred at the corner of Beacon Avenue and Fifth Street in Sidney. Police officers responded quickly and located a man suffering from serious injuries. The victim, who was known to officers, was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services where he is currently being treated.

The Sidney RCMP’s General Investigation Section (GIS) has conduct of the investigation, and is currently gathering evidence and working to identify the male suspect, states Cst. Tim Cosgrove, media relations officer for Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

At this time police have no reason to suspect there is any risk to the general public. Police have no further information to release at this time.
