There were was no planned or scheduled enforcements of the BC Supreme Court injunction order in the Fairy Creek Watershed area on Sunday July 4th, 2021.

However, early in the morning, a group of people on foot made their way through a forested area and entered the temporary access control area, contrary to the court-ordered injunction. However due to the roving patrols made by members, these individuals were not able to complete their devices, or dig and anchor them into the ground.

During the day a person found inside the injunction boundary received word of a family emergency, and was in need of immediate transport from the area. This person along with another for support were transported by police from the injunction area to a location along the Pacific Marine Highway.

Throughout the day a total of 5 individuals were arrested; 1 of whom for breaching the injunction (civil contempt of court), and 4 for obstruction. They were processed and released in Port Renfrew and Lake Cowichan.

Since enforcement began, the RCMP have arrested 356 individuals; at least 22 of whom were previously arrested. Of the 356 total arrested, 272 were for breaching the injunction (civil contempt of court), 74 were for obstruction, 5 were for mischief, 2 were for breaching their release conditions, 2 for assaulting a police officer, and 1 for counselling to resist arrest.

All news releases on the Fairy Creek Watershed police enforcement issued to date can be found on the Lake Cowichan RCMP Detachment website.
