Richmond RCMP investigation for alleged theft results in charges against two suspects and the recovery of over $7400 in merchandise.
On April 4, 2025 Richmond RCMP received a report of two men in a store allegedly stuffing merchandise into bags. Two Richmond RCMP officers conducting proactive foot patrols nearby immediately attended. As the two suspects exited the store, the officers advised them they were under arrest for theft. Both men dropped their bags and attempted to flee the area on foot.
Richmond RCMP officers pursued the suspects and were able to arrest one of the men. During the arrest, the suspect allegedly produced a baton but fortunately officers were able to arrest him without anyone sustaining injuries. The second suspect fled the scene.
Taylor Lucas Kolish was charged with theft over $5000, resisting or wilfully obstructing a peace officer and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Kolish was released from custody with multiple conditions including not to attend Richmond Centre mall.
Dicey Thomas Thunderheart Mathias was charged with theft over $5000 and resisting or wilfully obstructing a peace officer. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Richmond RCMP and quote file number 2025-10477.

Our bike and foot patrols provide a visible presence that serves as a deterrent for criminal activity and provide a sense of security for our residents, particularly in our downtown core.

Beyond enforcement, Richmond RCMP continues to work with frequently targeted businesses to enhance their loss prevention strategies, including recommendations for physical security improvements and environmental design modifications to deter theft.
