Two King Charles III’s Coronation Medals presented to West Shore RCMP family

Two members of the West Shore RCMP family received the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal this week.

The honour is presented to a person who has made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region of, or community in, Canada, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

Cst. Rob Renner was presented his King Charles III Coronation Medal by Vancouver Island District Commander, Chief Superintendent Bruce Singer during a ceremony on March 20, at the North Cowichan/Duncan detachment.

Cst. Renner joined the RCMP 2020 after serving 14 years with the Canadian Armed Forces, earning his Long Service Medal. His time with CAF included a deployment in 2017 to the Sinai Peninsula.

Throughout his time in the Canadian Armed Forces, he pursued his further education, becoming a registered nurse. After completing his education, he served a Humanitarian mission in Haiti.

With the RCMP, Cst. Renner is a front line officer here in the West Shore. He is known for his dedication and commitment to public safety.

Brad Aschenbrenner was presented the King Charles III Coronation Medal during a City of Langford council meeting by members of the Boys & Girls Club on March 17.

Aschenbrenner is the husband of West Shore fallen officer, Cst. Sarah Beckett. In honour of his wife, Aschenbrenner created the Cst. Sarah Beckett Memorial Run. The annual run aims to raise money for the Goldstream Food Bank and the Boys & Girls Club South Vancouver Island.

Since the creation of the run in 2019, the event has raised more than $100,000 and has hundreds of participates every year.

The 2025 Cst. Sarah Beckett Memorial Run is set to take place on May 11 at Starlight Stadium in Langford. Registration is open now.
