Dog bite

On August 15 2024 Kitimat RCMP received a report of a dog bite. A male was walking his dog near Partridge Street when another dog got loose from its lead and attacked. The male was able to separate the two dogs and it appears that the one dog received minor injuries. Police were able to locate the owner of the dog that got off its lead, impressing on the owner the importance of ensuring the control of the dog at all times. File reported to a partner agency for their information. (2024-2965)

Disturbance

On August 16 2024 at approximately 7:21 pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a disturbance on Wohler Street. A male was reported to be intoxicated and trying to fight with neighbours, swinging a golf club. Police were able to locate the male in quick time, he was intoxicated but was cooperative with police. The male was arrested for causing a disturbance and lodged in cells until he was able to care for himself. No charges are being recommended in this file. (2024-2973)

Bar checks

On August 16 and 17th 2024, Kitimat RCMP conducted checks of the local liquor establishments. There was no disturbances or unruly patrons reported. Kitimat RCMP remind all imbibers to plan for a safe ride home.

Vessel checks

Several vessel checks were conducted over the weekend while many were found to be fully compliant with regulations, there were several vessels that were not compliant. Police remind boater to ensure that their water crafts are fully compliant with all regulations to ensure a pleasant and safe boating experience.

Hit and run

On August 18 2024 at approximately 2:37 am Kitimat RCMP received a report of a possible collision on Lahakas Blvd at Haisla Court. A sign with a flashing light had been struck and knocked over. There were pieces of what appeared to be vehicle debris left including part of a headlight. The pieces indicated that the vehicle was black in colour. Police were able to determine that the headlight belonged to a Hyundai vehicle. There are no witnesses at scene and the vehicle had departed. Police are asking the public if they have any information or witnessed this event, please call Kitimat RCMP or CrimeStoppers. (2024-3005)

Unwanted tenants

On August 19 2024 Kitimat RCMP received a request from a homeowner to remove their tenants. The tenants had been living at the residence and paying rent, however the homeowner did not like their personal habits. As much as police want to help in matters such as these, this is strictly a residential tenancy issue and police do not enforce that Act. Police provided the homeowner with the Residential Tenancy Act phone number to contact to request assistance. (2024-3023)

Found drugs

On August 20 2024 illicit drugs were located near the Nechako Skate Park and thankfully, turned over to police. Kitimat RCMP remind the general public to exercise caution when coming into contact any unknown substances. Kitimat RCMP are always happy to retrieve items that are potentially toxic such as illicit drugs or paraphernalia. (2024-3032)
