File # 2025 School's out - safety is in

With the school year officially wrapped up and summer in full swing, the Chilliwack RCMP is reminding everyone to stay alert and share the road safely. As kids head outdoors to enjoy their break, drivers can expect to see more young pedestrians and cyclists in neighbourhoods, parks, and on local streets.

School Liaison Officers, who have spent the year building relationships with students and promoting traffic safety, are joining the call to keep everyone safe this summer.

Our students have learned how to stay safe as pedestrians and cyclists. Now it’s up to all of us to help them put those lessons into practice, said Cpl. Cynthia Kershaw, School Liaison Officer with Chilliwack RCMP. Drivers need to slow down, stay focused, and watch for kids who may be excited and less aware of their surroundings.

Summer should be a time of fun and freedom for our youth, said Inspector Kheleh, Chilliwack RCMP. Let’s make sure it’s also a safe one. Whether you’re walking, biking, or driving – we all play a role in preventing injuries and saving lives.
