1713 hrs -- UPDATE: One man has been safely apprehended

Multiple police officers, including members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, are currently responding to a high-risk call at a hotel on Columbia Street.

Earlier this afternoon, around 3 p.m. on April 29, 2025, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a report of a person experiencing a mental health crisis and in possession of a firearm.

Members of the SED ERT were fortunately nearby and were able to quickly deploy to assist, due to the high-risk nature of the report, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

The public is asked to please avoid the area while officers respond.
