The Dawson Creek RCMP have attended two separate deaths related to drug over doses in a less than a 24-hour period.
On 9th September 2024 at approximately 5:30 pm police were advised by Emergency Health Services that a 43 year old female had been located deceased in a makeshift shelter near 17th Street and Willowbrook Crescent, Dawson Creek. Police attended and located numerous indications that the female had been using illicit drugs prior to her death.
On 10th September 2024 at approximately 1:00 pm police were advised from a by stander that a 30 year old male had been located deceased in a park near Chamberlain Driver and 15th Street, Dawson Creek. Again, police located numerous items indicative of recent drug use prior to his death.
The Dawson Creek RCMP are warning the public of a possible toxic drug supply in Dawson Creek, given the quick succession of these two over dose related deaths. The British Columbia Corners Service has taken jurisdiction of the death investigations and are actively investigating these matters.
