Update #75 on police enforcement of injunction order in Fairy Creek Watershed

B.C., Lake Cowichan

2021-08-16 19:17 PDT

On Sunday, August 15, 2021, officers patrolled the Granite Mainline Forest Service Road area. Protesters did enter the area over night and constructed tripods and dug trenches into the roadway. No arrests were made, as several dozen individuals voluntarily left with support and assistance from the RCMP.

Police enforcement of the BC Supreme Court injunction order in the Fairy Creek Watershed area continued today, on August 16, 2021, in the same area where officers have been primarily focussing their efforts for the past several days.

Throughout the day, officers dealt with individuals in locking or tripod-like devices, and deep trenches or destroyed portions of the road. While working in one of the trenches, an officer sustained non-life threatening injuries and required medical attention at a local area hospital.

A number of individuals also voluntarily left the area today.
