Impaired driver crashes into hydro pole

On March 26, 2025, at approximately 7:56 p.m., West Shore RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision near the 1400 block of Kangaroo Rd in Metchosin. BC Hydro, BC Emergency Response and Metchosin Fire and Rescue all attended the scene. Remarkably, no one was seriously injured in this incident.

Officers observed a 2024 Grand Jeep Cherokee had driven off road and crashed into a Hydro pole at this location. The driver who is identified as a 38-year-old woman was exhibiting signs of alcohol impairment.

Officers proceeded with an impaired driving investigation and the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the Jeep was impounded for 30 days.
