BC Highway Patrol is investigating an overpass strike that has partially shut down Highway #1

BC Highway Patrol is currently investigating a collision involving a commercial vehicle and an overpass that has partially shut down eastbound traffic on Highway #1 at the Gilmore overpass.

The overpass strike occurred on February 5, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., in the far-right merge lane. There is no visible damage to the overpass and traffic should not be delayed for an extended period. BC Highway Patrol is in contact with BC Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) officers who will determine what enforcement actions will be appropriate.

Road users should expect minor delays in the area until all the evidence has been gathered and the roadway is safe for travel. Please be alert and obey the direction of police and traffic control personnel at the scene.
