An old family photo album containing pictures and memorabilia from the years 1800 to 1993 has been returned to the family who were thrilled to have it back.
The photo album was turned into the Powell River RCMP on March 7, 2024 and details were released to the media. A few days later, a member of the family contacted police to claim the album.
The family member was very excited and commented, I’m so happy to have this. Now I can continue to work on my family genealogy.

The family member saw the news release on Facebook after it was shared by a member of the community. Powell River RCMP would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in returning the album to its proper home.
On March 17, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a 911 call about a vehicle that had crashed into a telephone pole on Haul Road near Second Beach.
Police arrived on scene and observed a vehicle wedged into an un-serviced telephone pole. The vehicle sustained significant damage but the occupants were not injured.
Police spoke to the driver who showed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the detachment to provide breath samples. The driver provided two samples of breath with results of 230mg of alcohol / 100L of blood and 220mg of alcohol / 100L of blood.
The driver was issued a Notice of Driving Prohibition and was released to appear in Provincial Court.
