On October 29 at approximately 2:15 a.m., the West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot located at 1880 Island Highway in Colwood.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 27-year-old male victim who was suffering from a stab wound. BC Emergency Health Services attended and the male was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
A witness described a group of up to 4 suspects running away from the parking lot and crossing Island Hwy before loosing sight of them.
West Shore RCMP frontline officers contained the area. Police Dog Services attended and the police dog was deployed however, no suspects were located. Forensic Identification Section also attended and examined the scene.
Police have canvassed the area for surveillance and witnesses. West Shore RCMP Serious Crimes Unit is continuing this investigation. If you have a dash camera and were driving near the 1800 block of Island Hwy on October 29 between 1:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., please check your device and contact police if you think you captured suspicious activity on your dash camera.
Two bystanders assisted the victim. One bystander called police for help and stayed to speak with police afterward. The other bystander left the scene shortly after police arrived. Police are asking the bystander who left the scene to please call and provide your information to investigators.
If you have any information regarding this crime please contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264. Police do not believe the public is at risk as this appears to be an isolated crime, with no other similar reports.
