On March 14 at approximately 7:06 p.m., West Shore RCMP frontline officers responded to a call of an intoxicated male suspect who was exposing himself to citizens in the 850 block of Orono Rd in Langford.
Officers attended the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Another call involving the same male suspect was received at approximately 7:48 p.m., where the suspect is alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman by touching her in a sexual manner and running away.
A complainant called police right away and officers were able to locate the suspect in the area of Goldstream Ave and Island Hwy in Colwood. The suspect initially ran from police but was apprehended after a brief chase. The 27-year-old male suspect was arrested for sexual assault, indecent exposure and obstructing a police officer. The suspect is currently in police custody and is set to appear in court later today.
There is no indication that the public is at-risk as this suspect is in police custody. We thank the multiple witnesses who called police as their information was critical in locating and arresting the suspect, said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.
