File # 2025-14293

Richmond RCMP secure charges against man allegedly involved in series of theft from vehicles that took place around Mother’s Day.

Between May 7 and May 11, 2025 Richmond RCMP received three reports of alleged theft from vehicles in the downtown core. The alleged offences took place in the 8100 block of Anderson Road and 5800 block of No 3 Road.

Through the course of the investigations, a Richmond RCMP frontline officer determined the same person may be associated with all three thefts. The suspect, subsequently identified as Joseph David Michael Landry, has been charged with 14 offences, including theft, mischief, and breaching court orders. Four of the counts deal with allegations from July 2024. A warrant has been issued for Landry and Richmond RCMP is actively working to arrest him.

Richmond RCMP acknowledges the public interest generated through social media groups when incidents of crime are shared online. While this type of information-sharing can help raise awareness, Richmond RCMP reminds the public that direct reports to police are the most effective way to assist ongoing investigations.

We appreciate the community’s vigilance in sharing information. Timely reporting and providing all evidence directly to police is essential as it allows our officers to gather the necessary evidence to properly identify the suspect and secure charges. Says Corporal Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer. In this case, a suspect has been formally charged and efforts to locate and arrest him are ongoing. We encourage anyone with credible information on the suspect’s whereabouts to contact us directly in order to ensure a safe and informed response.

Anyone with information on Landry’s whereabouts is asked to contact Richmond RCMP and quote file number 2025-14293. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit them online at www.solvecrime.ca.
