Richmond RCMP reminds motorcycle operators to check motorbikes and ensure insurance and driver’s licenses are up to date before riding.
In support of Motorcycle Safety Month in BC, Richmond RCMP recommends motorcycle riders ensure their bikes are in good working condition before they ride.
With warmer weather, Richmond RCMP is seeing an increase in motorcycle traffic on our roadways. During a recent stop, an officer from the Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit stopped an unlicensed motorcycle rider whose Class 6 Learner license had expired in 2014. The rider, who only held a Class 5 DL, was also riding without insurance, which had expired in December of 2024. Charges laid totaled $874.00, not including the cost of towing and three penalty points.

With the warmer weather, there might be temptation to take your motorcycle out for an impromptu ride. Before you do, please make sure your insurance and license are both up to date for what you ride, said Constable Frank Tarape, Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit.
