Two female suspects were arrested by Burnaby RCMP after a catalytic converter theft in North Burnaby.
On January 22, 2025, at 4:30 a.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of two suspects underneath a van in a parking lot in the area of Brighton Avenue and Lougheed Hwy.
The suspects had fled the scene with the vehicle’s catalytic converter before police arrived, however, the caller was able to relay a description of their vehicle. Patrols in the area were successful as the two suspects were located and arrested with several catalytic converters and tools in their possession.
While we have seen the number of catalytic converter thefts dropping in Burnaby, this incident is a reminder that these types of thefts are still happening in our community, said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. We would like to acknowledge the witness who saw suspicious activity and called police right away.
