Burnaby RCMP focus on high risk driving activities during the month of May

Burnaby

Burnaby RCMP partners with ICBC and RoadSafety BC this May to address high risk driving activities.

Throughout the month of May, Burnaby Traffic Services will be focusing on the following high-risk driving activities:

The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness, especially when it comes to speeding, which is the leading cause of police-reported fatal collisions in B.C. (source I.C.B.C). It is every driver’s responsibility to ensure they are aware of posted speed limits on the roadway they are operating on.

As the spring and summer approach there are other road users, such as cyclists, pedestrians and children especially in school or playground zones. Drivers are reminded to slow down and to pass vulnerable road users at a safe distance.

Our officers will be conducting enhanced enforcement efforts for high-risk driving during the month of May, however they conduct these operations year-round, said Burnaby RCMP Staff Sergeant, Thane Royce. We are sharing this information to educate and encourage drivers to establish safe driving habits in an effort to keep our roads and communities safer.
