Prince Rupert

2025-01-14 10:08 PST

File # 2025-232

On Monday, January 13, 2025 at 2:45 p.m., Prince Rupert RCMP were called to the hospital for a report of an assault with a weapon.

A youth was receiving treatment for injuries after an incident involving an edged weapon took place early the same day on the grounds of a local school. The injuries sustained have been described as minor. All parties involved are known to each other and police do not believe there to be any risk to the public.

Anytime an assault takes place on school grounds the Prince Rupert RCMP works closely with the School District to ensure a thorough investigation is done, said S/Sgt. Jagdev Uppal, Operations NCO Prince Rupert RCMP.

The Prince Rupert RCMP continues to work with our partner agencies to provide the best support moving forward for both families. The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released.
