Vehicle thief arrested after foot pursuit

Quesnel RCMP arrested a man in relation to a stolen vehicle after he fled on foot.

On September 12, 2024 at approximately 8:45 a.m., a member of the Quesnel RCMP Crime Reduction Unit attempted to arrest a 26-year-old man for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. The man resisted arrest and after a brief struggle attempted to flee on foot. The man fled into the basement of a nearby residence. After a brief stand-off with police the man exited the residence where he was taken into custody without further incident.

The man is currently being held in custody pending a court appearance, said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch. "Our Crime Reduction Unit is committed to targeting and apprehending repeat property crime offenders."
