North Vancouver RCMP have arrested a suspect after a report of two people trying to gain entry into a parking lot and subsequent alleged assault on a police officer over the weekend.
On February 7, 2025, North Vancouver RCMP received a report of two people trying to gain entry into a parking lot in the 300 block of West 3rd Street in North Vancouver. Officers attended the area and located a female suspect matching the description provided by the witness. As officers were speaking to the female suspect, she fled, leading the officers on a foot pursuit.
The suspect was taken into custody a short distance later and allegedly assaulted one of the officers. During the struggle to restrain the female, a second officer sustained serious injuries to his head requiring hospitalization and stiches.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the female had several outstanding warrants and was breaching a release order for possessing a knife.
On February 8, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service formally charged Roxanne Lydia Mcginty with two counts of breach of release order, one count of assault on a peace officer and one count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer. Mcginty is currently held in custody and her next court appearance is February 11.
This is another reminder of the risk our officers face each day to serve and protect the citizens of North Vancouver, said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. Despite the dangers, our officers remain committed to ensuring public safety and holding offenders accountable. We are grateful that our injured officer is recovering, and we appreciate the ongoing support from the community as we continue our work to keep North Vancouver safe.
