Police seize a firearm and suspected drugs after a report from concerned citizens alerted police to what appeared to be two men dealing a firearm.
On November 9th, 2024, the Dawson Creek RCMP received a report of what appeared to be two men exchanging a firearm for cash in a parking lot near 4th Street and Highway 2, Dawson Creek. Police arrived and swiftly arrested 27 year old Jayden Cobb and detained two others. After an investigation it appeared an illicit transaction had occurred and Jayden was the responsible party.
Search of Jayden and the area resulted in the seizure of a shotgun, Canadian and American currency, ammunition and a large quantity of suspected cocaine. Jayden was found to be in violation of several court imposed conditions including breaching his house arrest curfew and being prohibited from possessing weapons.
Police held Jayden in custody and he was charged with occupying a vehicle with a prohibited firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon, careless storage of a firearm and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Jayden’s has a criminal record for repeatedly failing to comply with conditions and release orders, assault, theft, uttering threats and possession of controlled substances.
The Dawson Creek RCMP would like to thank the concerned members of the public who brought the suspicious activity to the attention of police
