On Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer detained a 45-year-old Trail man and his vehicle roadside on Helena Street, in Trail, BC. The officer conducted a police computer query on the vehicle’s licence plate and discovered that the man was allegedly prohibited from operating a motor vehicle contrary to Section 95 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.
The officer arrested the man then released him at the scene. His vehicle was impounded for up to 7 days. The 45-year-old Trail man make his first appearance in court on October 10 2024, in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 6:17 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was patrolling in a marked police vehicle when he observed a 22-year-old Kelowna man and his vehicle speeding on Highway 3B, in Warfield, BC. The officer confirmed via radar that the vehicle was allegedly travelling at110 km/h in a 70 km/h speed zone. The officer detained the man and his vehicle roadside.
The officer believed that the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the man who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a fail.
The 22-year-old Kelowna man was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. His vehicle impounded for up to 30 days.
The man also received a $230 fine for having liquor in a vehicle contrary to Section 76(2) of the BC Liquor Control and Licencing Act and a $196 fine for speeding contrary to Section 146(3) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.
On Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 12:29 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was patrolling in a marked police vehicle when he observed a 35-year-old Kamloops woman and her vehicle allegedly unable to maintain her lane while travelling on Highway 22, in Genelle, BC. The officer detained the woman and her vehicle roadside.
The officer believed that the woman’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. On Monday, July 30, 2024, the Trail and Greater District RCMP received a report a large male moose has been wandering around for approximately one week in downtown Rossland, BC.
A photograph of the moose was taken near a business by a local entrepreneur.
Wildlife conflict can be reported to the BC Conservation RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277 or online via the this link.
