Vehicle damaged at Eagle River bridge parking lot

On August 4, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a report that a vehicle that had been parked overnight at the Eagle River bridge parking lot had been damaged extensively.

The vehicle had been left in the parking lot after the owner sustained an injury and was taken to qathet General Hospital by ambulance on August 3, 2024. Powell River RCMP checked the vehicle at around 4:00 pm on August 3 and it was secure, with no damage.

Some time overnight, between the evening of August 3 and the morning of August 4, the driver window was smashed, all 4 tires were slashed and vulgar graffiti was spray painted on the hood, driver’s side and rear of the vehicle.

Powell River RCMP is asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious or anyone with any information about this to please call the detachment at 604-485-6255.

Charity donation box stolen from McDonalds

On August 5, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a report of a break and enter to McDonalds that happened around 4:30 am that morning.

Police attended and reviewed video that showed the suspect smash the lower window of the side entrance with a large metal wrench, enter McDonalds, take the charity box from the till area and leave through the smashed window.

Suspect arrested for mischief at Lockeroom Sporting Goods

On August 5, 2024, Powell River RCMP responded to an alarm at the Lockeroom Sporting Goods store. Upon arrival, police observed that the front door had been damaged but the suspect had not gained entry to the store and had fled.

Police reviewed the video surveillance and were able to identify the suspect. Police located the suspect who was arrested for mischief and released to appear in Provincial court.
