Nootka Sound, Missing Person

Nootka Sound RCMP, Tahsis Coast Guard and Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) search for missing kayaker last seen Friday evening.
On April 5, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Nootka Sound RCMP were advised that the Coast Guard was actively searching the Tahsis Inlet for an overdue kayaker. According to witnesses the man departed around 5:00 p.m. from the west side of the inlet.
The missing kayaker is 21-year-old Allan Duarte Da Rosa. He is described as 6’4, with dark hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a black jacket.
Tahsis Coast Guard and GSAR attended and conducted extensive searches of the inlet as well as all accessible areas on both sides of the Inlet. The unoccupied kayak was recovered near Tahsis Narrows, but despite search efforts Allan Duarte Da Rosa was not located.
