A 20-year-old man has been arrested for criminal harassment after several disturbing notes were left for multiple female victims in South Burnaby.
Between September 15 and November 3, 2024, on eight different dates and times, handwritten notes or women’s underwear were left for multiple female victims. The notes expressed thoughts of a sexual nature and implied that the suspect was watching the victims.
All of the victims live in area of Telford Avenue and Beresford Street.
On November 6, 2024, police arrested a 20-year-old man for criminal harassment. The suspect was released from custody with several strict conditions. He is prohibited from contacting the victims or attending any place they are known to attend. The suspect must also report to a bail supervisor.
I can only imagine the unsettling feeling these women must’ve felt knowing someone was watching them, said Sergeant Freda Fong with Burnaby RCMP’s Investigative Support Team. It was important for us to promptly identify and arrest the individual at the soonest opportunity. We need to send a strong message to the community that this type of behavior will not be tolerated and that the police prioritize women’s safety.
