Update #49 on police enforcement of injunction order in Fairy Creek Watershed

Police enforcement of the BC Supreme Court injunction order in the Fairy Creek Watershed area continued today, on July 13, 2021 in the area of Reid Mainline Road.

Six individuals were arrested for breaching the injunction (civil contempt of court).

Five of the individual arrested were locked in an interconnected arrangement of devices dug in a series of trenches in the road.

A number of large boulders had been perched precariously above the heads of the individuals lying in the trenches. The boulders were safely removed by specially trained experts, who conducted medical assessments before, during and after the extractions.

All arrested persons were processed and released in Port Renfrew.

Since enforcement began, the RCMP have now arrested 409 individuals; at least 27 of whom were previously arrested. Of the 409 total arrested, 304 were for breaching the injunction (civil contempt of court), 84 were for obstruction, 10 were for mischief, 2 were for breaching their release conditions, 1 for counselling to resist arrest, 1 for resist arrest, 1 being intoxicated in a public place and 4 for assaulting a police officer.
