Police responding to weapons report

A large police presence was visible on the North Shore around 12:30 p.m. today, as officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon.

On Wednesday Feb. 28, 2024, multiple Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to an address on the 1700-block of Parkcrest Avenue, where a suspect fled in a truck after allegedly assaulting and threatening a person with what appeared to be a firearm.

The police response was still active and ongoing at the time of this release, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. Residents are asked to please use caution in areas where officers are attending and reroute if possible.
