Over $21,000 Raised at This Year’s Wounded Warrior Charity Hockey Game!

Comox Valley

2024-12-20 12:02 PST

The 2nd annual Wounded Warrior Charity Hockey Game was an incredible success! On December 6th, local first responders and military personnel faced off against the Comox Valley Glacier Kings in a high-energy game filled with hard-fought plays, fun surprises, and, above all, an inspiring display of sportsmanship and unity.

Thanks to the outstanding support of our community, this year’s event raised over $21,000, bringing the two-year total to over $42,000 for vital Wounded Warrior programs on Vancouver Island. These funds directly support service members and their families coping with PTSD and other Operational Stress Injuries.

Sgt. Rob Brennan of the Comox Valley RCMP captured the spirit of the event, saying: "We are blown away by the overwhelming support the Comox Valley has shown—not just for this game but for all of our women and men in uniform and the Wounded Warriors cause. It’s something truly special to see service members from different uniforms come together as one team, raising awareness and funds for the mental health struggles too many of us face in the line of duty."

This year’s game featured a special guest player, Dr. Tim Black, a psychologist and the National Clinical Director for Wounded Warriors Canada, who brought even more heart and purpose to the ice.

The Wounded Warrior Charity Hockey Game Committee extends our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this event possible: our amazing supporters, the generous local businesses who donated, and the Glacier Kings Hockey Club for their partnership.

Don’t Miss Out Next Year!
This incredible event is quickly becoming a community favorite, so be sure to watch for tickets and announcements in 2025. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact for those who have sacrificed so much.
