Castlegar couple arrested after RCMP execute search warrant

On February 12th, 2025 the Castlegar RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with support from general duty officers and police dog services, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 500 block of 9th Avenue in Castlegar, BC.

The search warrant was obtained to further investigate the trafficking of drugs. Upon execution of the search warrant two occupants were located on the property who were both taken into police custody without incident.

Investigators seized a quantity of drugs believed to be cocaine and psilocybin, along with Canadian Currency and other items consistent with the trafficking of illicit drugs. In addition, police located various prohibited weapons on the property, that were seized.

The 47 year old female and 54 year old male were later released from police custody. Castlegar RCMP are continuing their investigation into possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, along with weapon related possession offences.

The matter will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Services of Canada for full charge assessment.
