Clearwater

2024-01-30 15:02 PST

File # 2024-115

Clearwater RCMP is investigating threats which resulted in a hold and secure protocol at the Raft River Elementary School.

On January 27th, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., school administration notified RCMP of information they received of a possible threat to the Raft River Elementary School.

Out of an abundance of caution, both schools in the community have been placed under a hold and secure protocol.

To support the safety measure and conduct their investigation, RCMP have increased their presence at both schools.

The safety and security of students and staff are of upmost importance, says Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of staff, students and parents while the investigation continues and officers take appropriate steps to ensure their safety.

The police investigation into the incident is continuing and there is no additional information for release at this time.
