Richmond

2025-05-27 08:05 PDT

Richmond RCMP is inviting the community to roll into summer safety by participating in the second annual E-Scooter Safety & Skills Challenge. This event is designed to educate new and experienced riders on how to navigate Richmond’s streets confidently and legally on electric scooters.

Event Details

Hosted in partnership with the City of Richmond, ICBC, Lime, HUB Cycling, Vancouver Coastal Health and other community partners, this free event offers a mix of education and fun. Participants will take part in a safety briefing and then proceed through various basic skills courses which include turning, stopping, and hazard awareness, before navigating the comprehensive skills challenge course. There will be giveaways for all participants, as well as door prizes.

We’re building a culture of road safety that includes every mode of travel, says Sergeant Eric Baskette, Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit. This event supports our strategic focus on education and community engagement to prevent harm before it occurs.

All participants must be 16 years of age or older and are required to sign a waiver. Helmets are mandatory.

E-Scooters and helmets will be provided on site by Lime, or participants may provide their own.
