A large police presence was visible on the North Shore yesterday in response to a report involving a suspected firearm.
On May 28, 2024, around 11:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received a report involving three people in a pickup truck with what appeared to be a firearm and body armour.
Multiple police officers responded and located the truck on Yew Street, where they conducted a high-risk arrest of its occupants, due to the possible involvement of a firearm, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

A school in the area was placed on a brief hold and secure during the response. No weapons or body armour were located. Police seized more than 22 grams of suspected meth and fentanyl as part of the investigation. Two suspects were arrested in the vehicle and another was located soon after, with the assistance of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment General Investigation Support Team. All were released.
