On May 22, 2024 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity involving two men wearing black balaclavas seen running from a mall in the 6500 Block of No. 3 Rd. The complainant directed the officers towards a nearby park where the suspects were heading.
Richmond RCMP frontline officers, supported by the Bike Patrol Unit, quickly established a perimeter and located the suspects in the vicinity. One suspect was apprehended without incident, while the second attempted to flee but was captured following a brief pursuit.
A search incidental to the arrest resulted in the recovery of over $ 7,500.00 in alleged stolen merchandise.
One of the suspects was also arrested on two outstanding warrants for unrelated matters, one of which was for theft under $ 5000.00.
