On February 15, 2025 just before 5 p.m., West Shore RCMP frontline officers and the Vancouver Island RCMP Emergency Response Team, including Crisis Negotiators, responded to an incident involving an adult male at the Hidden Valley Mobile Home Park located on Florence Lake Rd in Langford.
A male suspect barricaded himself inside a home within the park. A large perimeter was established by police until the suspect was safely taken into police custody. Officers advised neighbours to stay safe inside their home while police worked.
Last night, some residents began coming out of their homes after a misleading post on social media had wrongly informed people that the incident was over, while it was still ongoing. Incidents like this can unfold quickly and it is vitally important to follow police direction to maintain public safety, said Constable Gabriel Gravel, Media Relations Officer with the West Shore RCMP. We appreciate the response from the public that cooperated with police direction.

One male was taken into custody and there is no further risk to the public. Residents may continue to observe a police presence in the area as investigators remain on scene. As this investigation is ongoing there is no further information that can be released at this time.
