On April 9, 2025 at approximately 7:21 a.m. West Shore RCMP Bike Unit were patrolling the Galloping Goose Trail when they responded to a call to check the wellbeing of a man who was partially laying on the trail near Talcott Rd in View Royal. Police were advised there were two other people with the man (one woman and one other man).
While en route, the Bike Patrol officers encountered numerous passing cyclists, who asked if officers were on their way to respond to the trio who were blocking the trail with their personal belongings scattered about making it difficult for other trail users.
Bike Unit officers located the trio and determined all three individuals were safe and sound however, they were wanted on numerous unendorsed arrest warrants for a variety of offences including:
All three were subsequently arrested and held in custody to appear before the court.
West Shore RCMP Bike Unit officers patrol year-round throughout the West Shore allowing our officers to have presence in areas that police vehicles cannot easily access. This call for service is prime example of how the unit’s versatility allows police to provide better serve to their communities, said Cpl. Chris Joy, who is in charge of the West Shore RCMP Bike Unit.
