File # 2025-8558
An increased police presence is noticeable at TRU this week and through the weekend due to a threat.
On March 26, 2025, just before 1:00 p.m. the Kamloops RCMP received a report of an unconfirmed threat to the Thompson Rivers University campus. The Kamloops RCMP General Investigation Support Team (GIST) and the Serious Crime Unit (SCU) have been actively investigating the nature and source of the threat to determine the reliability while being mindful that threats can be made to create disruption and to achieve notoriety.
The Kamloops RCMP is actively working with TRU Community Safety and Emergency Management Risk and Safety Services as this investigation continues.
As part of a combined response, we are working with TRU Safety Services to have an increased presence in and around the campus over the next few days. We are asking people to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000, said Corporal Dana Napier, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
