West Shore

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, West Shore RCMP held a Town Hall meeting for the public at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 91 in Langford. The goal of the meeting was to allow community members from the West Shore to discuss their thoughts on policing priorities for the year with West Shore RCMP leadership.
The event started with a presentation from Superintendent Todd Preston, Officer in Charge, and Inspector Stephen Rose, Operations Officer. They discussed the number of calls for service received by the West Shore RCMP last year, different units at West Shore RCMP, some investigational successes from 2024, and more.
The presentation ended with a slide featuring the eight policing priorities that Mayors, Chiefs, and Councillors have submitted to West Shore RCMP for 2025. Please note, that while these eight priorities are listed numerically, the number does not reflect any priority ranking at this time.

Afterward, the audience was welcomed to the podium to speak regarding these eight priorities and their opinions on them. Those in attendance were also given the chance to fill out an anonymous online survey to rank their priorities.
Of those who spoke and/or took the survey, they recommended a focus on mental health and Crisis Response Teams, reducing organized crime and drug trafficking, and reducing property crime as their overall top priorities.
If you were not able to attend in person, West Shore RCMP would still like to hear from you. The survey will be available until Sunday, March 31, 2025.
