Richmond RCMP seeking witnesses or dash cam footage in alleged attempted kidnapping.
On April 28, 2025 shortly after 4:15 p.m. Richmond RCMP received a report of an alleged attempted kidnapping. According to the victim she was at a local sports facility in the area of the 4300 block of No 3 Road when she was approached by three men, one who allegedly was wearing an item marked with police and carrying a portable radio.
According to the victim a struggle ensued but fortunately she was able to break free. The suspects then left the area in a black Jeep Cherokee with an Alberta licence plate.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. the black Cherokee was located on fire in the 13000 block of Vulcan Way.
Based on evidence gathered to date this incident appears to be targeted.

We recognize the alarming nature of this incident and want to assure the public our investigators are working diligently to identify the individuals involved, says Inspector Michael Cohee, Officer-in-charge of Richmond RCMP Investigative Services and Community Engagement, We recognize the public may be concerned by the fact that one of the suspects alluded to being a police officer. If you are ever approached by someone indicating they are a plainclothes police officer, it is okay to ask for identification to verify their claims.

Richmond RCMP is looking for anyone who was in the area of the 4300 block of No 3 Road between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. or the area of the 13000 block of Vulcan Way between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. as well as between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
We know there were people walking past the area at the time the alleged attempted kidnapping took place. Our investigators are hoping to identify and speak with two particular witnesses which is why we are releasing their photographs, says Corporal Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer.

The first witness is described as Asian wearing a black jacket, blue shirt, white pants, white running shoes and carrying a white and black umbrella.
The second witness was wearing a grey jacket, grey pants, white running shoes, black glasses and carrying a pink purse.
Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of this active and ongoing investigation.
