On April 29th at approximately 12:20 am, The Kitimat RCMP were advised of possible gun shots in the area of the 80 block of Baxter Avenue, in Kitimat BC. Kitimat RCMP officers attended the scene and collected evidence that was consistent with a weapon being fired outside of the building, however no victims were identified.
Several hours later, a second call was received by the Kitimat RCMP that a victim was suffering from injuries and further reported they had been in the Baxter Avenue area a few hours earlier. The officers attended and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, a suspect was identified and was brought into custody on May 1st, 2025 with the assistance of the North District Emergency Response Team. A 27-year-old male was held for a bail hearing on May 2nd. A charge of aggravated assault was approved by Crown Counsel. The suspect was remanded in custody for a court appearance on a future date. Both parties were known to each other and this was a targeted incident.
This investigation is still ongoing.
