Chilliwack RCMP respond to shooting downtown

On February 4, 2024 at 11:19 am the Chilliwack RCMP received a report of a shooting in the 9300 block of Nowell Street in Chilliwack. Shortly after this report was received, a victim suffering serious injuries consistent with being shot arrived at the Chilliwack General Hospital. The hospital was subsequently shut down for safety reasons. Police contained the scene on Nowell Street between Yale Road and Gore Avenue as the investigation unfolded.

The Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crimes Unit with support from Chilliwack RCMP Frontline, the General Investigation Support Team, the Integrated Police Dog Services, as well as the Integrated Forensic Identification Service, are advancing the investigation.

The victim is currently in stable condition and expected to survive his injuries. The victim is known to police but his identity is not being released. There is no further threat to the public at this time as police believe this to be a targeted incident and not related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
